Garlic Butter Baked Scallops

Ingredients (Serves 3–4)

  • 1 lb scallops (sea scallops preferred)
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (panko works best)
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Optional: pinch of paprika or red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    • Heat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Prepare scallops
    • Pat scallops dry with paper towels.
    • Arrange in a single layer in the baking dish.
  3. Make garlic butter topping
    • In a bowl, mix melted butter, garlic, lemon juice, salt, pepper, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, and paprika (if using).
  4. Top scallops
    • Spoon mixture evenly over scallops.
  5. Bake
    • Bake 12–15 minutes, until scallops are opaque and topping is golden.
  6. Finish & serve
    • Sprinkle with parsley and serve immediately with lemon wedges.

Tips

  • Don’t overbake—scallops should be tender, not rubbery.
  • For extra crisp topping, broil for 1–2 minutes at the end.
  • Serve with rice, pasta, or steamed vegetables.
