Instructions

  1. Bring water or broth to a boil
  2. Slowly whisk in grits
  3. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally:
    • Stone-ground grits: 25–30 min
    • Quick grits: 5–7 min
  4. Stir in butter, cheddar (if using), salt & pepper
  5. Keep warm

  1. Heat 2 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium heat
