Ingredients (serves ~2β3)
- 1 lb (450 g) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 bell peppers (green + red is classic), sliced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional but tasty)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- Β½ cup beef broth or water
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger (or Β½ tsp ground)
- Black pepper, to taste (pepper is the star!)
- 2 tbsp oil (vegetable or sesame)
Instructions
- Marinate the beef
Mix beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and a pinch of black pepper. Let it sit 10β15 minutes. - Cook the beef
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a hot pan or wok. Sear beef quickly (1β2 minutes) until just browned. Remove and set aside. - Stir-fry veggies
Add remaining oil. Cook onion and peppers for 2β3 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp. Add garlic and ginger; cook 30 seconds. - Combine & sauce
Return beef to the pan. Add beef broth and oyster sauce. Stir and cook 1β2 minutes until sauce thickens. - Finish
Add lots of freshly ground black pepper. Taste and adjust salt or soy sauce.
Serve with
- Steamed white rice π
- Fried rice or noodles
- Cauliflower rice for a lighter option
If you want, I can:
- Make it extra spicy
- Turn it into a slow-cooker version
- Adjust it for no oyster sauce or no soy sauce
