Kielbasa Potato Soup

Posted on December 31, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a hearty and comforting Kielbasa Potato Soup recipe — smoky, creamy, and perfect for a cozy meal 🥔🌭🍲

Kielbasa Potato Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 lb kielbasa sausage, sliced into ¼-inch rounds
  • 4–5 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
  • 2 carrots, diced (optional)
  • 2 stalks celery, diced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Optional garnish: chopped parsley or shredded cheese

Instructions

1. Cook the Kielbasa

  1. In a large pot, heat butter or olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced kielbasa and cook until lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Remove and set aside.

2. Cook the Vegetables

  1. In the same pot, sauté onion, garlic, carrots, and celery (if using) until softened, about 5–7 minutes.

3. Add Potatoes & Broth

  1. Stir in diced potatoes, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 15–20 minutes, until potatoes are tender.

4. Blend (Optional)

  1. For a creamier texture, mash some potatoes with a potato masher or use an immersion blender briefly.

5. Add Cream & Kielbasa

  1. Stir in heavy cream and cooked kielbasa. Simmer 5–7 minutes until heated through. Adjust seasoning.

6. Serve

  1. Garnish with parsley or cheese and serve hot with crusty bread.

Tips

  • Use smoked kielbasa for extra smoky flavor.
  • Add bacon for more richness.
  • For a thicker soup, add 1–2 tablespoons flour or cornstarch before adding cream.

I can also give a slow cooker version so it cooks all day and the flavors meld beautifully.
