Here’s a hearty and comforting Kielbasa Potato Soup recipe — smoky, creamy, and perfect for a cozy meal 🥔🌭🍲
Kielbasa Potato Soup
Ingredients
- 1 lb kielbasa sausage, sliced into ¼-inch rounds
- 4–5 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
- 2 carrots, diced (optional)
- 2 stalks celery, diced (optional)
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- Optional garnish: chopped parsley or shredded cheese
Instructions
1. Cook the Kielbasa
- In a large pot, heat butter or olive oil over medium heat.
- Add sliced kielbasa and cook until lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
2. Cook the Vegetables
- In the same pot, sauté onion, garlic, carrots, and celery (if using) until softened, about 5–7 minutes.
3. Add Potatoes & Broth
- Stir in diced potatoes, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 15–20 minutes, until potatoes are tender.
4. Blend (Optional)
- For a creamier texture, mash some potatoes with a potato masher or use an immersion blender briefly.
5. Add Cream & Kielbasa
- Stir in heavy cream and cooked kielbasa. Simmer 5–7 minutes until heated through. Adjust seasoning.
6. Serve
- Garnish with parsley or cheese and serve hot with crusty bread.
Tips
- Use smoked kielbasa for extra smoky flavor.
- Add bacon for more richness.
- For a thicker soup, add 1–2 tablespoons flour or cornstarch before adding cream.
I can also give a slow cooker version so it cooks all day and the flavors meld beautifully.
