Here’s a simple guide for a hearty casserole — customizable, cheesy, and baked to perfection 🥘🧀


Basic Casserole

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked protein (chicken, beef, or turkey), diced or shredded
  • 2 cups cooked pasta, rice, or potatoes
  • 1–2 cups mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn, broccoli)
  • 1 can (10–11 oz) condensed cream soup (cream of mushroom, chicken, or celery)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1–2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional toppings: breadcrumbs, crushed crackers, or extra cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix Ingredients
    • In a large bowl, combine cooked protein, cooked starch (pasta/rice/potatoes), vegetables, condensed soup, milk, 1 cup of cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Assemble Casserole
    • Pour mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
    • Sprinkle remaining cheese and/or breadcrumbs on top.
  4. Bake
    • Bake for 25–30 minutes until hot and bubbly and cheese is melted.
    • Optional: broil 1–2 minutes at the end for a golden, crispy top.
  5. Serve
    • Let cool 5 minutes before serving.

Tips

  • Customize with your favorite proteins or vegetables.
  • Add spices like garlic powder, paprika, or Italian seasoning for extra flavor.
  • Can prepare ahead and refrigerate; bake when ready to serve.
