Black Cherry Jello Salad

Ingredients

  • 1 box (3 oz) black cherry Jell-O
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple, undrained
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup Cool Whip, thawed
  • Optional: ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Dissolve Jell-O
    In a large bowl, stir black cherry Jell-O into boiling water until fully dissolved.
  2. Add fruit
    Stir in crushed pineapple (juice and all) and cherry pie filling.
  3. Chill slightly
    Refrigerate 20–30 minutes, until thickened but not set.
  4. Fold in creamy stuff
    Gently fold in marshmallows, Cool Whip, and nuts if using.
  5. Chill to set
    Refrigerate at least 2 hours (overnight is even better).

Old-school tips

  • Don’t skip the partial chill before adding Cool Whip or it’ll melt
  • For extra creaminess, mix in ½ cup sour cream
  • Serve in a glass bowl so people can admire the layers šŸ’
