Pork shoulder

Posted on February 11, 2026 by Admin

Pork shoulder is a flavorful, well-marbled cut that becomes incredibly tender when cooked low and slow 🥩✨
It’s perfect for pulled pork, roasting, braising, or slow cooking.

🔥 Oven-Roasted Pork Shoulder (Tender & Juicy)

Ingredients

  • 3–4 lb pork shoulder (bone-in or boneless)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme (optional)

Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).

2️⃣ Season
Rub pork with olive oil. Mix spices and coat evenly on all sides.

3️⃣ Roast
Place in a roasting pan (fat side up).
Cover loosely with foil and roast about 40–45 minutes per pound.

4️⃣ Crisp the outside (optional)
Remove foil for the last 30–45 minutes to brown.

5️⃣ Rest
Let rest 20 minutes before slicing or shredding.

Internal temp for pull-apart tenderness: 195–205°F (90–96°C).

🥪 For Pulled Pork

  • Cook until very tender (around 200°F internal).
  • Shred with two forks.
  • Mix with BBQ sauce or pan juices.

🥘 Other Great Ways to Cook Pork Shoulder

  • Slow cooker (8–10 hrs on low)
  • Pressure cooker (60–90 minutes)
  • Braised in broth, wine, or tomato sauce
  • Smoked (classic BBQ style)

💡 Why It’s So Good

Pork shoulder has connective tissue and fat that break down during slow cooking, making it moist and flavorful.

If you tell me how you want to cook it (oven, slow cooker, smoker, Instant Pot), I can give you a more specific recipe.
