🥟 Pierogi (Polish Dumplings)

Pierogi are traditional dumplings from Poland, typically filled with potatoes, cheese, meat, or fruit. They’re boiled, then often pan-fried in butter with onions.


🥟 Classic Potato & Cheese Pierogi (Pierogi Ruskie)

🛒 Dough Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup butter, softened

🛒 Filling Ingredients

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (cooled)
  • 1 cup farmer’s cheese or ricotta
  • 1 small onion, finely sautéed in butter
  • Salt & black pepper to taste

🔪 Instructions

1️⃣ Make the Dough

  1. Mix flour and salt.
  2. Add egg, sour cream, and butter.
  3. Knead until smooth (about 5 minutes).
  4. Cover and rest 30 minutes.

2️⃣ Make the Filling

Mix mashed potatoes, cheese, sautéed onion, salt, and pepper until creamy.


3️⃣ Assemble

  1. Roll dough thin (about ⅛ inch).
  2. Cut 3-inch circles.
  3. Add 1 tablespoon filling to center.
  4. Fold and pinch edges tightly to seal.

4️⃣ Cook

  • Boil in salted water until they float (2–3 minutes).
  • Remove and optionally pan-fry in butter until golden.

  • Butter & caramelized onions
  • Sour cream
  • Crispy bacon bits
  • Fresh dill
