Ingredients

Beef Patties

  • 1½ lbs ground beef
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Creamy Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • ½ cup heavy cream (or half & half)
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Topping

  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella or cheddar
  • Fresh parsley (optional garnish)

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Patties

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix all patty ingredients gently until just combined.
  3. Shape into 6–8 oval patties.
  4. Brown in a skillet with a little oil, 2–3 minutes per side (they don’t need to cook through).
  5. Transfer to a greased baking dish.

2️⃣ Make the Cream Sauce

  1. In the same skillet, melt butter.
  2. Whisk in flour and cook 1–2 minutes.
  3. Gradually whisk in beef broth.
  4. Stir in cream, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  5. Simmer until slightly thickened (3–5 minutes).

3️⃣ Assemble & Bake

  1. Pour sauce evenly over patties.
  2. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  3. Cover loosely with foil and bake 20 minutes.
  4. Remove foil and bake 10 more minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
