Here’s a classic Sloppy Joe recipe 🍔 — messy, savory, and perfect for a quick meal.

Sloppy Joe

Servings: 4
Time: ~30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small green bell pepper, diced (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¾ cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste (optional, for thicker sauce)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (optional, for sweetness)
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Cook meat & veggies
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
    • Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Cook 3–4 minutes until softened.
  2. Make sauce
    • Stir in ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper.
    • Simmer 5–10 minutes until thickened and bubbly.
  3. Assemble
    • Spoon the meat mixture onto hamburger buns.
    • Serve warm with your favorite sides (fries, chips, or salad).

Tips & Variations

  • Cheesy Sloppy Joe: Sprinkle shredded cheddar on top before serving.
  • Spicy version: Add hot sauce, chili powder, or diced jalapeños.
  • Mini sliders: Use small buns or dinner rolls for party appetizers.
  • Healthier twist: Use ground turkey or chicken and serve on whole wheat buns.

I can also give you a crockpot Sloppy Joe version that cooks all day for deep flavor.

Do you want me to give that version?
