Here’s a simple, savory Cheese Muffins recipe 🧀🧁 — soft on the inside, lightly crisp on top, and perfect for breakfast, snacks, or alongside soup.

Cheese Muffins

Makes: 12 muffins
Time: ~30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Colby-Jack, or mozzarella)
  • 1 cup milk
  • ⅓ cup oil or melted butter
  • 1 large egg

Optional Add-ins

  • Chopped green onions or chives
  • Cooked bacon bits
  • Garlic powder or paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
375°F (190°C). Line or grease a muffin tin.
  2. Mix dry ingredients
In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, and cheese.
  3. Mix wet ingredients
In another bowl, whisk milk, oil (or butter), and egg.
  4. Combine
Stir wet ingredients into dry just until combined (do not overmix).
  5. Fill & bake
Spoon batter into muffin cups, about ¾ full.
Bake 18–22 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool & serve
Let cool 5 minutes before removing from pan.

Tips & Variations

  • Extra cheesy: Sprinkle cheese on top before baking.
  • Spicy version: Add diced jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne.
  • Herb cheese muffins: Mix in rosemary, thyme, or parsley.
  • Freezer-friendly: Cool completely, then freeze up to 2 months.

If you want, I can also give you a cheddar garlic version, savory cheese & herb muffins, or a gluten-free option.
