🍎 Puff Pastry Apple Galette
Ingredients (Serves 4–6)
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 2–3 apples (Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Pink Lady)
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp coarse sugar (optional but pretty)
- Optional: 2 tbsp apricot jam (for glaze)
Instructions
- Prep Oven
Heat oven to 400°F (205°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment. - Prep Apples
Peel (optional), core, and thinly slice apples. Toss with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, cornstarch, and vanilla. - Roll Pastry
On a lightly floured surface, roll puff pastry into a ~12-inch circle. Transfer to baking sheet. - Assemble
Arrange apples in the center, leaving a 2-inch border.
Fold pastry edges over apples, pleating as you go. - Finish
Brush pastry with egg wash. Sprinkle with coarse sugar. - Bake
Bake 35–40 minutes, until pastry is deep golden and apples are tender. - Optional Glaze
Warm apricot jam and brush over apples for shine.
✨ Serving Ideas
- Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream
- Sharp cheddar (trust me)
- Dust of powdered sugar
💡 Tips
- Keep pastry cold for max flake
- Slice apples evenly so they cook through
- If apples are super juicy, add an extra ½ tsp cornstarch
