Baked apple fritters

Posted on January 9, 2026 by Admin

Ohhh Baked Apple Fritters 🍎🍩—all the cozy cinnamon-apple goodness of a fritter, but baked instead of fried. Soft inside, lightly crisp outside, and finished with a sweet glaze. Let’s do it.

🍎 Baked Apple Fritters

Makes 10–12 fritters

Ingredients

Fritters

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk or buttermilk
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat & prep

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C)
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper

2️⃣ Mix dry ingredients

  • Whisk flour, sugars, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt

3️⃣ Mix wet ingredients

  • Whisk eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla

4️⃣ Combine

  • Stir wet ingredients into dry until just combined
  • Fold in diced apples (don’t overmix)

5️⃣ Shape & bake

  • Drop heaping spoonfuls onto baking sheet (rustic blobs are perfect)
  • Bake 12–15 minutes until set and lightly golden

6️⃣ Optional broil (for crisp tops)

  • Broil 1–2 minutes watching closely

7️⃣ Glaze

  • Whisk glaze ingredients
  • Brush or drizzle over warm fritters
  • Let glaze set 5 minutes

🔥 Pro Tips

  • Small apple dice = better texture
  • Buttermilk = extra tenderness
  • Broiling gives that fried-style edge
  • Double glaze for bakery-style finish

Variations

  • 🍏 Apple cinnamon roll fritters: Add cream cheese glaze
  • 🥜 Apple pecan fritters: Add ½ cup chopped pecans
  • 🍯 Maple glaze: Swap vanilla for maple extract

If you want, I can give you:
✔️ a yeast-style baked fritter
✔️ an air-fryer version
✔️ a no-glaze, breakfast-friendly version

Just say the word 😋🍎
