Ingredients

  • Crackers (like saltines or similar) – 1 sleeve
  • Butter – 1 cup (divided)
  • Brown sugar – 1 cup
  • Pecan halves – 1 cup

Basic Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place crackers in a single layer.
  2. Make caramel: Melt ½ cup butter with the brown sugar in a saucepan until smooth and bubbly.
  3. Pour caramel evenly over the crackers.
  4. Add pecans: Place one or two pecan halves on each cracker.
  5. Bake: 10–12 minutes, until caramel is bubbly and pecans are toasted.
  6. Optional chocolate: Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot crackers and let them melt, then spread slightly.
  7. Cool completely so caramel sets, then break into individual bites.
