Garbage Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread or Italian bread
  • 6–8 slices of deli meats (ham, salami, pepperoni, or turkey), chopped
  • 1 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1 cup bell peppers, diced
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 2–3 cups shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or a mix)
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    • Preheat to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
  2. Prep the bread
    • Slice the bread loaf lengthwise but don’t cut all the way through β€” keep the halves attached like a hinge.
    • Optionally, cut into sections that can be pulled apart later.
  3. Layer fillings
    • Spread pizza sauce (if using) on the inside of the bread.
    • Layer meats, veggies, and cheese evenly inside the loaf.
  4. Season & finish
    • Brush melted butter over the top.
    • Sprinkle Italian seasoning and extra cheese if desired.
  5. Bake
    • Wrap in foil and bake 15–20 minutes until cheese is melted and bread is heated through.
    • Optional: uncover for the last 5 minutes to get a crispy top.
  6. Serve
    • Slice or pull apart and serve hot.

Tips

  • You can customize with any leftover meats or veggies.
  • Add some pepperoni or sausage for a pizza-style version.
  • Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
