Garlic Butter Steak Bites & Cheesy Smashed Potatoes

Ingredients (Serves 3–4)

For the steak bites:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter

For the cheesy smashed potatoes:

  • 1 lb baby potatoes (or small Yukon golds)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite)
  • 2–3 tbsp milk or cream
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Optional: chives or parsley for garnish

Instructions

1. Cook the potatoes

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water 15–20 minutes until fork-tender.
  2. Drain and let cool slightly.
  3. Place potatoes on a baking sheet and gently smash with a fork or potato masher.
  4. Drizzle with butter, sprinkle cheese, and season with salt & pepper.
  5. Optional: Broil 2–3 minutes until cheese is melted and edges are slightly crisp.

2. Cook the steak bites

  1. Pat steak cubes dry and season with salt & pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear steak bites 2–3 minutes per side until browned and cooked to your liking. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté garlic 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Return steak to skillet and toss with garlic butter.

3. Serve

  • Plate cheesy smashed potatoes and top with garlic butter steak bites.
  • Garnish with parsley or chives.

  • Let steak sit at room temperature for 15–20 minutes before cooking for more even searing.
