Here’s a simple and comforting recipe for Ground Beef and Cabbage—a classic one-pan meal that’s hearty, flavorful, and easy to make.


🥩 Ground Beef and Cabbage Skillet

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small head green cabbage, chopped (about 6 cups)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or butter
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme or Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water (optional, for a little moisture)
  • Optional: red pepper flakes for a little heat

Instructions

1. Cook the Beef

  • Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned.
  • Drain excess fat if needed.

2. Sauté Aromatics

  • Add onion and garlic to the skillet.
  • Cook 3–4 minutes until onions are soft and fragrant.

3. Add Cabbage

  • Stir in chopped cabbage and paprika or herbs.
  • Cook, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender, about 8–10 minutes.
  • If the skillet seems dry, add 1/4 cup beef broth or water to help steam the cabbage.

4. Adjust Seasoning

  • Taste and adjust salt, pepper, or seasonings.
  • Add red pepper flakes if you like a little spice.

5. Serve

  • Serve hot as a main dish, or alongside mashed potatoes or rice.

Tips

  • Quick version: Use pre-shredded cabbage to save time.
  • Extra flavor: Add a splash of soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce.
  • Low-carb option: Serve as is, without rice or potatoes.
  • Make-ahead: Keeps well in the fridge for 2–3 days; reheat gently.
