Lumpia

Here’s a classic Filipino Lumpia (Lumpiang Shanghai) 🇵🇭🥢
Crispy on the outside, savory on the inside.


Lumpia (Filipino Spring Rolls)

Time: ~45 minutes
Makes: 20–25 pieces

Ingredients

  • Lumpia wrappers (or spring roll wrappers)
  • ½ lb (225 g) ground pork (or chicken/beef)
  • 1 cup finely chopped vegetables
    • carrots
    • onions
    • green onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • Salt & pepper
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Make filling
    In a bowl, mix meat, vegetables, garlic, egg, soy sauce, salt, and pepper.
  2. Wrap
    Lay wrapper flat.
    Add 1–2 tbsp filling near one edge.
    Roll tightly, fold sides in, seal edge with a little water.
  3. Fry
    Heat oil over medium heat.
    Fry lumpia in batches until golden brown (3–5 minutes).
  4. Drain & serve
    Place on paper towels.

Dipping Sauce Ideas

  • Sweet chili sauce
  • Banana ketchup
  • Vinegar with garlic & pepper

Tips

  • Keep wrappers covered with a damp towel so they don’t dry out.
  • You can freeze uncooked lumpia and fry later.
