Here’s a simple way to make Fried Onions — crispy, golden, and full of flavor 🧅✨


Crispy Fried Onions

Ingredients

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or cornmeal for extra crunch)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

1. Prep the Onion

  1. Separate the onion slices into rings or thin strips.
  2. Optional: soak onions in cold water for 10–15 minutes to reduce sharpness. Pat dry.

2. Coat the Onion

  1. Mix flour, salt, pepper, and paprika in a bowl.
  2. Toss onion slices in the flour mixture until evenly coated.

3. Fry

  1. Heat oil in a skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry onions in batches for 2–4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Drain on paper towels.

4. Serve

  • Serve as a side, topping for burgers, casseroles, or salads.

Tips

  • For extra crunch, double-dip: coat onions in flour, then a beaten egg, then flour again.
  • Can also bake fried onions in the oven at 400°F for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Sprinkle a little salt immediately after frying for best flavor.
