Spring roll

Posted on January 8, 2026 by Admin

Ahhh Spring Rolls 🥢🥬—crispy, fresh, and versatile! They can be fried for that golden crunch or fresh (Vietnamese-style) for a light, healthy snack or appetizer. Here’s a guide for both styles.

🥢 Classic Fried Spring Rolls

Makes ~12 rolls

Ingredients

  • 12 spring roll wrappers (thin pastry sheets)
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • ½ cup grated carrot
  • ½ cup bean sprouts (optional)
  • ½ cup cooked protein (shrimp, chicken, pork, or tofu)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling
    • Heat a little oil in a skillet.
    • Sauté garlic briefly, then add cabbage, carrot, bean sprouts, and protein.
    • Stir-fry 2–3 minutes.
    • Add soy sauce, sesame oil, salt & pepper. Cool slightly.
  2. Assemble spring rolls
    • Lay a wrapper on a flat surface (corner toward you, forming a diamond shape).
    • Place 2–3 tbsp filling near the bottom corner.
    • Fold bottom over filling, fold sides in, and roll tightly. Seal edge with water.
  3. Fry
    • Heat oil in a deep skillet or wok over medium heat.
    • Fry rolls 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
    • Drain on paper towels.
  4. Serve
    • Serve with sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, or peanut sauce.

🥗 Fresh (Vietnamese) Spring Rolls

Ingredients

  • Rice paper wrappers
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Fresh herbs (mint, basil, cilantro)
  • Cooked shrimp, chicken, or tofu
  • Vermicelli noodles, cooked
  • Julienned vegetables: carrot, cucumber, bell pepper

Instructions

  1. Soak rice paper in warm water until soft.
  2. Lay on a flat surface and layer lettuce, noodles, protein, herbs, and veggies.
  3. Fold bottom, then sides, and roll tightly.
  4. Serve with hoisin-peanut sauce or nuoc cham (Vietnamese dipping sauce).

🔥 Pro Tips

  • Do not overfill: Easier to roll and prevents tearing.
  • Fried version: Keep wrappers slightly damp; too wet = soggy, too dry = cracks.
  • Fresh version: Serve immediately; rice paper dries fast.
  • Variation: Add avocado, mango, or sprouts for extra flavor.

If you want, I can give you a restaurant-style crispy fried spring roll recipe with an extra-crunchy wrapper and a sweet chili dipping sauce that’s addictive 🥢✨.
