Stuffed mashed potato nests

Posted on January 2, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a super-tasty version of Stuffed Mashed Potato Nests 🥔🧀 — crispy outside, creamy inside, perfect as a side or snack.

Stuffed Mashed Potato Nests

Servings: 4–6
Time: ~40 minutes

Ingredients

Potato Nests:

  • 3 cups mashed potatoes (cold works best)
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
  • Salt & pepper

Stuffing Ideas (choose any):

  • Cooked bacon bits
  • Shredded chicken
  • Sautéed mushrooms
  • Extra cheese
  • Green onions or herbs

Instructions

  1. Prep:
Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C). Grease a muffin tin.
  2. Make potato mixture:
Combine mashed potatoes, egg, cheese, salt, and pepper.
  3. Form nests:
Spoon potato mixture into muffin cups. Press the center down to create a “nest” shape.
  4. Bake partially:
Bake 20 minutes until edges start to turn golden.
  5. Add stuffing:
Fill each nest with your chosen filling. Top with extra cheese if you like.
  6. Bake again:
Bake another 10–15 minutes until heated through and golden on top.
  7. Serve:
Let cool a few minutes, then carefully remove from muffin tin.

Tips:

  • Cold mashed potatoes hold their shape better.
  • You can add herbs (parsley, chives) to the potato mixture for extra flavor.
  • Try a breakfast version with a small egg cracked into each nest before the second bake.

I can also give you a quick air-fryer version that’s extra crispy and done in half the time. Do you want that version?
