blackened shrimp

Here’s a flavorful, easy Blackened Shrimp recipe 🍤
Smoky, slightly spicy, and ready fast.


Blackened Shrimp

Ingredients (Serves 3–4)

  • 1 lb (450 g) raw shrimp, peeled & deveined
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter

Blackening seasoning:

  • 1 tsp paprika (smoked if you have it)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp dried thyme or oregano

Instructions

  1. Prep shrimp
    • Pat shrimp dry with paper towels.
    • Toss with oil or melted butter.
  2. Season
    • Mix all seasoning ingredients.
    • Coat shrimp evenly.
  3. Cook
    • Heat a cast-iron or heavy skillet over high heat.
    • Add shrimp in a single layer.
    • Cook 2–3 minutes per side until charred and cooked through.
  4. Serve
    • Remove immediately to avoid overcooking.
    • Optional: squeeze fresh lemon on top.

Tips

  • Don’t overcrowd the pan—cook in batches
  • Shrimp cook very fast; pink and opaque = done
  • Great in tacos, over rice, in salads, or pasta
