🥖 Bread Rolls

Bread rolls are soft, fluffy small loaves that can be served plain, filled, or as a side for soups and meals. Here’s a simple homemade version that turns out light and delicious.

🥣 Ingredients (Makes 10–12 rolls)

  • 3½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 egg (optional, for richer dough)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Activate yeast:
    • In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast.
    • Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Make the dough:
    • Add melted butter, salt, and egg (if using).
    • Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead:
    • Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise:
    • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1½ hours until doubled in size.
  5. Shape rolls:
    • Divide dough into equal portions and shape into balls.
    • Place in a greased baking pan, slightly touching.
  6. Second rise:
    • Cover and let rise 30–45 minutes.
  7. Bake:
    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Bake 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
    • Brush tops with melted butter for softness.

🔥 Variations

  • Garlic butter rolls: Brush with garlic-infused butter after baking.
  • Sweet rolls: Add 1–2 tbsp extra sugar and a splash of vanilla.
  • Whole wheat: Replace half the flour with whole wheat flour.
  • Stuffed rolls: Fill with cheese or spiced potato before baking.

Bread rolls are soft, versatile, and perfect for any meal, from breakfast to dinner.
