Say less 😌🍝 Here’s a classic, cozy homemade lasagna—the kind everyone loves and always goes back for seconds.

Classic Lasagna

Ingredients

Meat Sauce

  • 1 lb ground beef (or half beef / half Italian sausage)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara or pasta sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Cheese Layer

  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)

Other

  • 9 lasagna noodles (regular or oven-ready)
  • Extra mozzarella for topping

Instructions

  1. Cook noodles (if not oven-ready) until al dente. Drain.
  2. Make the sauce
Brown meat with onion. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds. Stir in marinara, seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer 10 minutes.
  3. Mix cheese layer
Combine ricotta, egg, mozzarella, Parmesan, and parsley.
  4. Assemble
    • Spread a thin layer of sauce in a 9×13 dish
    • Layer noodles
    • Ricotta mixture
    • Meat sauce
    • Repeat (usually 3 layers)
    • Finish with sauce + mozzarella on top
  5. Bake
Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes.
Uncover and bake another 15–20 minutes until bubbly.
  6. Rest
Let sit 15 minutes before slicing (trust me).

Make-it-better tips

  • Mix beef + sausage for big flavor
  • Add spinach or mushrooms to the sauce
  • For extra richness, add a thin layer of béchamel or a splash of cream to the ricotta
