Here’s a classic Wonton Soup recipe β€” comforting, flavorful, and perfect for a light meal πŸ₯ŸπŸ²

Wonton Soup

Ingredients

For the Wontons

  • 1/2 lb ground pork or chicken
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 30–40 wonton wrappers

For the Broth

  • 6 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Optional: sliced mushrooms, bok choy, or spinach

For Garnish

  • Sliced green onions
  • A few drops of sesame oil or chili oil

Instructions

1. Make the Wontons

  1. In a bowl, mix ground meat, green onions, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
  2. Place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper.
  3. Wet the edges with water, fold into a triangle or rectangle, and press to seal. Optionally, bring corners together to form traditional wonton shapes.

2. Prepare the Broth

  1. In a large pot, bring broth, garlic, and ginger to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Add soy sauce and sesame oil, adjust seasoning to taste.

3. Cook the Wontons

  1. Gently drop wontons into simmering broth.
  2. Cook 4–5 minutes until wontons float and filling is cooked through.
  3. If using vegetables, add them during the last 2–3 minutes of cooking.

4. Serve

  1. Ladle soup into bowls, including several wontons.
  2. Garnish with green onions and a few drops of sesame oil or chili oil.

Tips

  • Use fresh or homemade wonton wrappers for best texture.
  • Avoid overfilling wontons to prevent breaking during cooking.
  • Can make wontons ahead of time and freeze; cook directly from frozen, adding a couple extra minutes.

I can also give you a simpler weeknight version with store-bought wontons and quick broth if you want.
